MessageLabs wanted to spread the news that its managed security service had become available to the SMB market. To do this, Spectrum suggested MessageLabs provide SMBs with some wisdom on e-security and develop the company’s standing as a thought leader in the community. It was decided to leverage an existing whitepaper and find a platform to launch it thereby establishing MessageLabs as a thought leader in the security market.
In October 2006, Spectrum worked with the DCITA (Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts) to organise a breakfast roundtable as part of the government’s National E-Security Awareness Week.
Top tier Journalists were invited to attend the event which was held at Sydney’s Observatory Hotel. A small number of MessageLabs SMB customers also attended and a discussion was held around the various techniques SMBs can use to protect themselves against external threats on a tight budget.
The event was used to launch MessageLabs’ ePolicy guide for small businesses which provides best-practices guidelines for developing and implementing effective Email and Web Acceptable Usage Policies for the Australian workplace
To add to the fun, journalists were served with scrambled eggs for
breakfast and given a can of spam to take home.
